Tony, other than the fact that J. Edwards is buried near the “green monster” why are you a Red Sox fan?
Ah, yes, Bill … It’s a beautiful story. In the years of our Lord nineteen hundred and eighty-four and nineteen hundred and eighty-five I, being from Omaha, NE the home of the College World Series, attended almost all the series games. In those years I chose to follow the Texas Longhorns (probably because they were predicted to win). In both of those years I grew especially fond of a pitcher for the Longhorns named Roger Clemens. As is true of the CWS, it falls at the time of the baseball draft (I literally had Nomar Garciapara autograph a baseball the day before he went from a poor college student to a wealthy first-round choice of the BoSox). Anyways, I vowed to follow the MLB team that drafted Clemens and that became the Red Sox. Clemens would of course bounce from Boston to Toronto and Huston …. but I’ve remained loyal to the BoSox ever since. So that, Bill is the story of why I’m a Red Sox fan. Never been to Fenway so I guess I’m like a 2/3 Red Sox fan. Blessings! Tony
Nice story Tony, We Dodger fans are enjoying Nomar out here currently. He has been a blessing to OUR team. I heard “the rocket” has become a Christian lately as a result of God using Roger’s friend Andy Pettitte (Currently a Yankee btw). I guess I had forgotten about the little league WS in Nebraska. Is “the field of dreams” there or maybe it’s Iowa? Anyway I am excited that one of my favorite blog guys is a baseball fan. Blessings to you and also congrats for your up coming new baby this summer. (My daughter is due in May and my daughter in law is due in June.)
I did not hear of Clemen’s conversion, though that would be great. I know the Lord is using Albert Pujols to spread the Gospel in amazing ways … see his website. Maybe the Rocket will start spreading the fame of Jesus, too. That would be amazing. Amazing grace. … BTW, I assume your “little league WS” statement was a mistake for the “College World Series.” Or were you making fun of the CWS as child’s play? :-) Tony
7-6, 7-5, 7-6. Sounds like a tennis match. Congratulations to all the BOSOX fans. You definitely have something to brag about to the Yankee fans.
