Why is Calvinism alive and thriving today? According to Mark Dever the printing of the works of C.H. Spurgeon has a lot to do with it. For more see the post here. And on a related note, my review of Spurgeon’s Autobiography is coming up next Monday at TUAR. Blessings! Tony

Tony:
I recently agreed to read these two volumes with you as you said it was your “summer reading”. Is it that the summers in Minnesota are so short that you have to read so fast. I am only half way through Vol 1.
Must admit I am quickly becoming a major fan of Spuregon.
Bill
This is a wonderful set of books, Bill. I’m heading out to the park tonight with the family to pick up where I left off (about 1/2 through vol. 2). You are right, Summers are very short in MN so Summer reading schedule is about 1 month long :-) … Glad you are enjoying this set. It’s a true treasure. Have you read Spurgeon’s response to the perfectionists yet (pp. 1:228-229)? Oh how I laughed out loud. I’ve categorized these episodes in the “don’t try this at home” category. Enjoy these works. So you finished Marden on Edwards I take it? Blessings! Tony
You are right Tony, his sarcastic comments about these people who have “arrived” is very funny. It is great insight into Spurgeon’s keen sense of humor. Yes Marsdens book was exceptional. I had read “Mayflower” (N. Prichard) just before Marsden’s Edwards and found it to be a great backdrop of the times and reasons for the indian conflicts in Edwards day.
Keep up the good work, you do a great job, I have been really blessed.
PS I like your ipod addition to the site. Got the phone yet?
