Bethlehem and Golgotha

The opening words from John Donne’s Christmas sermon delivered on December 25, 1626:

The whole life of Christ was a continual Passion; others die Martyrs, but Christ was born a Martyr. … His birth and his death were but one continual act, and his Christmas-day and his Good Friday, are but the evening and morning of one and the same day.

  1. I have preached/taught for years that without Easter, Christmas would have no meaning. I designed a poster that shows the wise men following a star that is over a manger scene with rays from the star pointing to a cross and beyond that an empty tomb. Even Good Friday doesn’t become a miracle until Sunday morning.
